Jarah Evslin (Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences) will present a talk "Towards Explicit States in a Sigma Model" on November 27, at 2 pm.
Abstract: In the CP1 sigma model, fractional instantons nonpertubatively generate a mass gap. To understand how they do it, we wish to explicitly calculate the ground state and first excited state wave functions using the known equivalence to the XXX spin chain. We describe two novel techniques which will allow, for the first time, the continuum limit of these wave functions to be calculated.
